Graduation? Matriculation? What’s the difference?

Today’s post will be short and sweet. I have other stuff to do this morning, notably drink my coffee and stumble into the shower. You see unlike my normal existence as a Stay at Home Mom, today I must get dressed. Today is Awards Day! My oldest daughter will walk across the tiny school stage to get her award, Good Citizenship, and to leave behind the first grade.

Then my little brother in law will “graduate” the sixth grade. I put that in quotes cause I’m not sure it’s really graduating. I mean yes he’ll be in a new building next year, but it’s just not a grade a normally associate that term with. To me, I’d think “matriculate” but it appears I’m using the ideas I had growing up In New England in comparison to the school system in the south.

Oh well, either way, it’s going to be a long afternoon. Filled with tears I imagine, as well as cheers. I couldn’t be more proud of these two amazing kids. They are my inspiration in writing stories for their age group.

So, that’s it. I’m logging off after a measly 189 words. I’ll be better next week, I promise. Until then, hug your kids. Surprise them with your love today.
